5 Wrestlers Who Could Be Tony Khan’s Surprise on AEW Dynamite
Tony Khan has promised a big debut for tonight’s AEW Dynamite. Let’s take a look at 5 wrestlers who could be Tony Khan’s surprise tonight on Dynamite.
*Honorable Mentions: Jay White, Josh Alexander
5.) Kazuchika Okada
This would be special and I would have him at one because he would be the biggest deal of anyone that could possibly show up but I just don’t believe it is him. Although, my buddy Gary tells me that Okada has always wanted to do a ladder match so that adds to the suspense. But ultimately I don’t think it will be him.
This one is unlikely as Ali is under contract with WWE but does he just say screw it and breach his contract? Is that a splash Tony Khan is willing to take? That would be ballsy but certainly interesting. Like Okada, I don’t think the mystery debut will be Ali. But it’s fun to think about.
3.) Buddy Matthews
Since being released from WWE Matthews has been around the block. He’s wrestled for NJPW, MLW, and various independent wrestling organizations and he would be a big announcement for Tony Khan and perfect for the ladder match at Revolution. But I don’t think it’s going to be Matthews. I don’t think Matthews is a big enough deal for TK to be hyping this the way he is. Seemingly he could have had Matthews at any point over the past 5 months so I don’t think he would go about debuting him this way.
2.) Jeff Hardy
Here’s where it gets interesting. Jeff is still under his 90 day no compete clause with WWE. However, Matt Hardy has joked around that Tony Khan has bought out his remaining contract. Do I believe that? Just like Ali, no I don’t. So I don’t think it will be Jeff debuting tonight. It would make a ton of sense with the match being against his brother Matt’s prized pupil and the match being for a spot in the ladder match on the line but ultimately I just don’t think it happens.
1.) Keith Lee
DING, DING, DING! We have a winner folks. The wrestling community has been craving for Keith Lee since being called up to Raw from NXT. Lee’s main roster run was less than stellar and fans have yearned for him to be back in front of us on our screens for a long time. Lee would be perfect for this debut. He’s somebody that enough people care about and would be a perfect fit in the Revolution ladder match to determine a new contender for the TNT Title. Lee is coming off his wedding to Mia Yim this weekend and many think he is out on his honeymoon. I think the photos he has been posting are a decoy and he will be the one to debut tonight!
Regardless who it is I am very excited for tonight’s AEW Dynamite. With that being said both my heart and my head are telling me the answer to this question is The Limitless One Keith Lee.
